This is my cat, Nawla. She’s 16 years old, and was my only friend for the good first half of my life. While my home life was in ruins as a child, she was the only constant. My mom’s exes have burned her with cigarettes, kicked her up to ceiling, stomped on her and yelled at her for no reason.
And she is dying.
I can’t afford to live in a pet-friendly rental just yet. She’s staying...
